Short answer
Yes, laundry sheets can leave residue, and it is almost always down to loading, not the sheet. A sheet dropped on top of the clothes, a packed drum, a quick-wash cycle or too much product stops the sheet dissolving fully. Fix those four things and the white marks stop.

The four causes and how to fix each one
1. The sheet went in on top of the clothes
A sheet on top of the load gets the least water. Put it in the empty drum first, then add the clothes. Never put it in the detergent drawer.
2. The drum is packed tight
Water has to move through the clothes to dissolve the sheet and rinse it away. Leave a hand's width of space at the top of the drum.

3. The cycle is too short
Quick washes save time but cut the rinse. Use a full-length cycle for full loads. BioPure works in hot or cold water, so a 30°C or eco cycle is fine. Length matters more than temperature.
4. Too much product for the load
Two sheets in a small load leaves more than the rinse can clear. Dose to the load size:
- Small or delicate load: half a sheet
- Regular or large load: one sheet
- Heavily soiled load: two sheets
Our laundry sheet dosing guide covers this in more detail.
Already got marks on your clothes?
Rewash the item on a normal-length cycle with no extra detergent. The residue rinses out. Dark fabrics show marks first, so give darks the most space in the drum.
Check the drum and seal
Sometimes the marks are not from the sheet at all. A grubby drum or door seal can leave grey streaks and smells of its own. Wipe the seal after washes and run a hot maintenance wash monthly. Our guide to washing machine mould and smells walks through it.

FAQ
Do laundry sheets leave residue on clothes?
They can if the sheet can't dissolve fully. The usual causes are a sheet placed on top of the clothes, a packed drum, a very short cycle or too much product for the load. Fix those and the marks stop.
Why do laundry sheets leave white marks?
Usually an overpacked drum, a quick-wash cycle or the sheet sitting on top of the clothes, so it never gets enough water to dissolve.
How do I get laundry sheet residue off clothes?
Rewash the item on a normal-length cycle with no extra detergent. The marks rinse out.
Where do I put a laundry sheet in the machine?
In the empty drum, before the clothes. Not in the detergent drawer.
Do laundry sheets dissolve in cold water?
BioPure is made to work in hot or cold water, including 30°C and eco cycles. In a cold wash, loading space and cycle length matter even more.
